LAWN CARE

Don't Mow, Let it Grow!

Fertilizer:  The Brainerd Lakes Area soils are already high in Phosphorus.  Rain water may contain phosphorus, too.

Look for a fertilizer with the middle number as "0" such as: 12-0-12.
(the middle number is phosphorus)

No need to add more phosphorus to the soil.

Grass Clippings:  Grass clippings make a great fertilizer!  Be sure they stay on your lawn and aren't washed away by storm water.

Mowing:  Letting your lawn grow to 3 inches before mowing will prevent dry spots and keep the grass healthy.

Perhaps there are places you can let grow, providing habitat for wildlife and natural vegetation.
